Vinyl Pagoda Project Disclaimer

THE VINYL PAGODA PROJECT is a project devoted to the discovery, collection, research, and dissemination of Japanese music on vinyl. Vinyl recordings (in both album and single formats) are being collected for this project by this blog’s owner, CJ Marsicano. Since not every reader of this blog does not own a turntable, vinyl rips of the recordings are being shared on high-quality mp3s.

All mp3 files are recorded in real time using a Numark TTUSB turntable lined directly into a Dell XPS M1530 laptop. The files are recorded and edited using Audacity, or are encoded using either LAME via Audacity or the latest available version of iTunes. iTunes is used to formalise the ID3 tags in the mp3 files. The exact bit rate of the mp3s will be mentioned in each entry. Since the mp3s, true to this project’s name, are being derived from vinyl records, occasional imperfections (pops, clicks) may be heard, and the digital files may reveal other sonic limitations in the source material.

Please note that despite the rarity of many of these recordings, they are still under copyright. Although the material is registered under Japanese copyright laws and this site originates in the United States of America, International Copyright Laws still apply to these recordings. If the represented recordings are still in print, the downloader is wholly encouraged to purchase the artists’ recordings. Links to purchase commercially available recordings through CDJapan are provided by the writer. Stuck In A Pagoda does not bear responsibility for the user’s failure to respect copyright law, and reserves the right to withdraw the mp3s after a certain time period or at the request of the copyright holder, or substitute a streaming-only audio option.

Out of respect for both the copyright holders of the sonic works contained herein, and for the operator of this blog who is making these vinyl rips (and paying for the records being used) himself, please do not disseminate the files widely or pass off the download links as your own.

If you are the copyright holder of any work covered by the Vinyl Pagoda Project and object to the availability of your work here, please contact us and we will gladly either remove the downloadable file or substitute a streaming audio file instead. If you are the copyright holder and don’t object to your work being part of this project, you may tell us that as well.
