PAGODA PODCAST #1, or Miss Vee, I Have Accepted Your Challenge…
Leave it to my favorite blogger in the IW blogosphere, Vee Hoffman, to give me the excuse to finally sit on my ass and do something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile. I have to apologize in advance for the slightly shitty microphone I used on this debut podcast, as I had plugged into my $1700 Windoze Blister laptop a $2 microphone I’d gotten on the spur of the moment via a “cheap deals” link Tara had hipped me to. This was slightly impromptu, but if the reaction is good to this experiment, I’ll try to outdo myself on Episode 2 (and get a better microphone). Enjoy!

Episode 1
ETA 4.20.08 6:02 PM. Apparently Odeo.com, which is hosting the stream and RSS feed of this podcast, has briefly gone kerplotz. My apologies, but that part of the equation is unfortunately out of my control. Good thing I put the direct DL up, huh?
ETA 4.21.08 10:48 AM. Since Odeo.com is proving rather unreliable, I’m hosting the show through Podshow.com now and have removed the Odeo.com flash stream. You can stream or download the show, or grab the RSS feed for this and future episodes through this URL:

I’ve also put this new location’s RSS feed through iTunes for those of you that like to download podcasts in that manner; I’ll let everyone know when it becomes available soon as I get an update from Apple.
ETA 4.22.08 8:29 PM. The Pagoda Podcast is now available through iTunes. Click here to subscribe!

Oh wow, Ceej, deliver you did!! *bows* That was awesome – informative and amusing. I did *not*, in fact, have that last song you offered, which blew my mind. Oh, Nakazawa-san, how I miss you…*sniff*
Excellent choice from Tommy Airline, and cool story about “discovering” Yukki.

I enjoyed this immensely! I hadn’t heard any of these songs before, except for the original “Mrs. Robinson”, of course (though the Parliament song sounded familiar). As for the Perfume thing, I’ve never argued that they would have a long career like that, as I never expected them to have a long career period- idols usually don’t. I agree that “Resonant Blue” definitely has a lot of funk in it, though I consider it more of a funk-dance-R&B fusion than straight up funk. And I loved the last song in particular- “The Graduate” is one of my favorite movies, so to hear a H!P version of one of the songs from the soundtrack is pretty amazing! I will have to hunt that down…
One question about the podcasts though- how do you add music in? I’m planning on doing my own, and I have a mic and Audacity, but I don’t know how add songs. Help please?

@Hanachan – I was dragging songs out of whatever folder they reside in right into Audacity. They will initially end up on a new track within Audacity and you will have to cut and past the song at the end of whatever dialogue you have already recorded. It’s a teeny bit tedious and the only way to actually learn how to do it to try to do it. Also, I should warn you that Audacity will only take mp3 files when you’re doing this, not AAC’s or WMVs.

Thank you! Most of what I have is in mp3 or can easily be converted to such format, but I’m gonna have trouble with the songs I bought off iTunes

@Hanachan – Any songs you bought off of iTunes can be burned to a CD and then reripped to mp3 format from that. Unless they’re in the iTunes Plus format, in which case they can be easily converted.

Oh, thank you! That will be good for my Zen as well….
