Pretty. Fucking. Elaborate.

So, two months ago, pengie caught wind of Fueled By Ramen offering pre-orders for both standard and special editions of Panic! At The Disco’s new album Pretty. Odd. (A review of the album by me, along with some other reviews that I’m overdue on, will be posted soon.) and hipped me to it. The special edition almost didn’t get bought by me, figuring I’d wait until the regular CD was released, until I saw that they were offering both the CD and LP in the package along with a T-shirt, so I went for it.

Today, four days after the actual album arrived in stores, my limited edition arrived in my PO Box. About time.

This is how it looks folded…

Then the second…

…then (for the purposes of this photo) temporarily tuck the top flap underneath to reveal the vinyl edition of the album hand-inserted within. (And yes, the sleeve was already wrinkled when I first opened it.) I haven’t played the vinyl yet - I’m hoping that this pressing will sound better than the pressing FbR had out for A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, but it’s not 180gram vinyl.

et viola! The whole thing, fully unfolded.

008
Yes, a jigsaw puzzle. Sealed, fortunately. Never to be unsealed by me, obviously.

On the opposite flap, the CD (with a slightly different label than the regular CD edition) and a bonus DVD documenting the making of the album.

009
This edition’s “lyric booklet”, which is more of an elaborate, almost origami-like fold-out.

An example of the lyric booklet’s contents.

The lyric booklet unfolded all the way to the bottom to reveal a portrait of the band.

One of 10,000.

The T-shirt that was part of Fueled By Ramen’s pre-order. Front…

…and back.

Very nice package, I must say. I’d love to see Morning Musume do something like this on a future release. Could you imagine if they had done something like this for one of their recent studio albums? Sounds like an idea for a future post…
